Our chapter has numerous philanthropy events every semester. All of which need donations for organizations like Sunshine or for purchasing supplies for events like Adopt-a-Highway. You can trust that 100% of your donation will highly benefit one of these philanthropy events. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support!

Teetering for Tots

           Teetering Fall 2016

           Teetering Fall 2016

Every year, for the past 10+ years, during The Toledo Rockets homecoming game, our chapter does a 24 hour teeter totter marathon outside of the stadium to raise money for Sunshine Communities. Our teeter totter was constructed out of 2-18 ft long telephone poles and attached to them are homemade seats.

As stated, we raise money for a local organization called Sunshine Communities. For those that may be unaware, they are a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to people with mental disabilities. They currently house over 400 people, children and adults. They truly love to take care of and help the people who live there and that is why we believe they are a worthy cause.

Sunshine has been active for over 60 years. Starting in just a small farmhouse in   Maumee, Ohio, it is now a booming organization providing care for over 1000 disabled persons. You can visit Sunshine at this link.

Adopt-A-Highway

  2016 Adopt-A-Highway Crew

Adopt-A-Highway is one of our oldest philanthropy events, which focuses on service and giving back to the community. We usually set aside a couple Saturdays a year for this event, and consistently have a great turnout. We recently finished up our fall event and had a dozen member help clean up I-75. In total, it took us about two hours to clean up the four main highway ramps, and we collected over 300 lbs of trash.

Clean Your Streams

 Ottawa River on UT's Campus

Every fall we participate in Clean Your Streams because of how much it truly gives back to our local community. We collect garbage on the Ottawa riverbank. In addition to beautifying the region, this event collects data on littering habits. The data is used to influence residents and industry on their packaging and disposal habits. Clean Your Streams is a great event for giving back and fellowship which is why our chapter looks forward to it every year!

Relay For Life

Relay for Life is a team fundraising event that is set up by the American Cancer Society. Depending on the location of the event a relay can last from 6-24 hours. During that time at least one member from each team must be walking (or running) at all times until the event is over. Each team sets up a themed camp site, to which they sell goods or play games for fundraising efforts. Having fun is the goal of the relay, but we use this event to remember our friends or family who may have lost or won the battle against cancer.
